Once the bar no longer has the spring action, removing it should be a tad bit easier. If both of those methods are giving you trouble, you can always saw it in half. If that does not work, try snipping it with your clippers.

You can try pulling it off with your pliers. Remove the spring wrapped around the middle of this bar. Now locate the metal bar that locks the keys in place. The other redundant metal bar can be easily pried out.
